At Paul Dessau Fine Art, we believe that art and design go hand in hand. Our gallery collection features pieces that are visually stunning, and thought-provoking. Start your journey of discovery today.
Paul’s artistry combines his Masters’s degree in mechanical engineering with studio art classes taken in college, including, drawing and portrait painting, as well as private instruction from Estonian born artist Sergio Truebach, thus using analytic as well as aesthetics to combine art traditions from the past and present in each piece.
He has also had workshop instruction from Karen Cahill, Annie Murphy Robinson, Peggy Magovern, and Jacq Luttrelle. His work emphasizes invoking old master art in a modern way. He has enjoyed doing artwork since his childhood in Carmichael, CA.
A few of the venues where Paul has shown his art include The Artistic Edge Gallery, Sacramento, CA, the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, Carmichael, CA. The Center for the Arts, Grass Valley, CA, The Flour Garden, Grass Valley, CA, the California State Fair, Sacramento, CA, and the Crocker Kingsley Art Show, in Roseville, CA.
Central to Paul's art activities is the creation of custom portraits of people, either family members or historical people. He works with colored pencil, graphite pencil and paper collage. For collage, the magazines and paper chosen will be related to the person, their past, present and/or interests.
He can work from scans of photos, Jpegs, or live. Customer input through the creation process, is included in this, via frequent email images of the work in progress, to the customer.
No fee is charged until the customer is satisfied (at the minimum) with the work.
Working from a photo, Paul created a paper collage using paper cut from cooking restaurant magazines.
Collage is a fine art form in which a variety of materials are blended into a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Paul Dessau works with recycled materials—archival magazine scrap, printed items, and found objects—to create works of art with a range of colors, textures, and patterns. No paint is used. Customer input through the creation process, is included in all commissions, via frequent email images of the work in progress, to the customer. All Paul Dessau Collage materials are treated to be archival. He works from both life and photographs. Each piece is created freehand.

Greetings. My name is Joan Hall and the knitted mice on this page are my creations. I have been knitting most of my life. A few years ago, on a whim, I bought a pattern for knitted mice in medieval clothes. They were a huge hit, and I have been making them ever since. I have modified the pattern to make the mice smaller and have made different clothes and accessories for them.
The mice are knitted from wool yarn, but I can also use acrylic for people with wool allergies. They are about 5" tall. The price for 1 mouse is $20.00 plus postage.
We love our customers, so feel free to contact us for an appointment.
